UAE fast-tracks new oil pipeline bypassing Strait of Hormuz

The United Arab Emirates will fast-track construction of a new oil pipeline bypassing the Strait of Hormuz after war disruptions.

The West-East Pipeline will double ADNOC capacity through Fujairah port and is expected to operate next year, officials said reports.

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan directed ADNOC to accelerate delivery of the project.

An existing 360-kilometre pipeline from Habshan oil fields to Fujairah has a capacity of 1.8 million barrels per day reports.

The UAE, which recently quit OPEC, plans to raise production capacity to five million barrels per day next year target.

Oil facilities in Fujairah have been repeatedly struck during the Middle East war latest attack injuring three Indians May 4.
