US forces launched fresh strikes on Iran on Tuesday, deepening a six-month war raging across the volatile Gulf region.
The Iranian Red Crescent said shrapnel from a missile killed four people, including a child, at a wedding in Kuhestak.
Iranian state television reported explosions near the Strait of Hormuz, saying US forces also hit an airport in Kerman province.
Washington’s Central Command said the strikes answered Revolutionary Guard attacks on shipping and American troops stationed across the region.
President Donald Trump called the strikes “large and powerful,” warning Iran would face harsher punishment if it retaliated further.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards vowed “severe punishment,” and Tasnim news agency said missiles and drones were already targeting US bases.
Jordan’s army said it intercepted ten ballistic missiles fired from Iran, with three others landing harmlessly in remote areas.
Two oil tankers were separately struck by unclaimed projectiles, as the vital Strait of Hormuz remains closed to global shipping.
