Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Saturday accused General al-Burhan’s Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and extremist groups linked to the Islamic Movement of causing the deaths of thousands of civilians.
According to the RSF, the SAF and its allies have intensified their attacks across Darfur, Khartoum, Gezira, and White Nile. These assaults have resulted in the deaths of thousands of people and widespread destruction of homes, public facilities, hospitals, and places of worship.
The RSF further claimed that the SAF and its allies continue to commit crimes based on racial and tribal grounds. They have allegedly escalated their violence through numerous racially motivated arrests and executions.
On Thursday, the SAF, along with extremist militias and Military Intelligence, conducted a major operation in Gedaref State. During this operation, over 100 individuals were detained under dubious circumstances, with some reportedly facing extrajudicial killings, the RSF added.
“This wave of violence follows the recent massacre in Village 32 in Um Al-Qura in Gezira State, where 50 citizens were slain by the SAF and its allied Islamic Movement brigades on ethnic and tribal grounds. The victims, primarily from Darfur and Kordofan, exemplify the ongoing ethnic cleansing,” the RSF stated.
“We stand firm in our commitment to monitor and expose the systematic abuses, false accusations, and disgraceful trials facilitated by corrupt judges subservient to the terrorist Islamic Movement. We urge human rights organizations and all relevant entities to condemn these atrocious crimes against humanity,” the RSF emphasized.
Sudan has been embroiled in conflict between the army, led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, head of the ruling Sovereign Council, and the RSF.
According to UN figures, at least 13,900 people have been killed and more than eight million displaced since the conflict began in April 2023.
Several cease-fire agreements, brokered by Saudi Arabia and US mediators, have failed to halt the violence.
