Nigeria’s crude output rises as navy curbs oil theft effectively

Nigeria’s oil production has increased to between 1.6 million and 1.7 million barrels per day, up from 1.2 million barrels per day in February, following enhanced security measures to combat crude theft.

Chief of Naval Staff Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla reported this positive development, highlighting the government’s efforts to protect oil production and curb illegal activities in the oil-producing areas.

The Nigerian Navy has deployed 12 vessels at sea to safeguard oil facilities and has already apprehended over 16 vessels involved in illicit activities.

Additionally, the force has successfully blocked channels used for the sale of illegally refined petroleum products.

Despite these improvements, Nigeria’s oil minister, Heineken Lokpobiri, emphasized that further investment in the energy sector is essential to fully unlock the country’s oil potential
