Fatal crash between bus and tanker truck in Ivory Coast

A devastating collision between a tanker truck and a bus in northern Ivory Coast claimed the lives of 13 people and injured 44 others on Friday night.

The accident occurred on the highway connecting Bouake and Korhogo, two major cities in the region.

A parked freight truck, obstructing the road without proper warning lights, contributed to the tragic event.

The impact of the collision resulted in a fierce fire that engulfed both vehicles, causing extensive damage.

The Ivorian Press Agency and state television confirmed the report and the number of fatalities.

Road accidents are a persistent problem in Ivory Coast due to poor road conditions and reckless driving.

Annually, over 1,000 people lose their lives in such incidents.

In an effort to address this issue, authorities implemented a point-based driver license system last year.

Additionally, cameras were installed on major roads to monitor and fine traffic violators.
