Hezbollah’s devices explode across Lebanon, sparking tensions

Hand-held radios used by Hezbollah detonated across southern Lebanon and parts of Beirut on Wednesday (Sep 18), according to security sources. The explosion left three people dead in the Bekaa region and dozens more wounded. One of the blasts occurred near a Hezbollah-organized funeral for victims of a prior explosion involving pagers used by the group.

Israel’s Mossad was reportedly behind the sophisticated attack, planting explosives in 5,000 pagers months earlier. Tuesday’s explosions resulted in 12 deaths, including two children, and nearly 3,000 injuries.

Hezbollah retaliated on Wednesday by launching rockets at Israeli artillery, escalating tensions.

The attacks, which Hezbollah labeled its “biggest security breach,” have raised concerns about a wider regional conflict, with Jordan accusing Israel of provoking the crisis.

Amidst the chaos, calls for an independent investigation have emerged, as Hezbollah prepares further responses against Israel, following the deadly blasts that rocked the country.
