Hamas agrees not to take part in Gaza’s administration – report

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has agreed to refrain from participating in the administration of Gaza in the near future, Egyptian media reported Saturday.

According to Al-Qahera News, a well-informed source revealed that Egypt is leading intensive efforts to establish a temporary committee responsible for overseeing relief efforts and the reconstruction of the war-ravaged enclave.

“Hamas confirms its commitment to the ceasefire agreement in its three stages and its non-participation in Gaza’s governance during the upcoming phase,” the source stated.

Despite these reports, Hamas has not issued an official statement confirming its decision to step aside from Gaza’s administration.

The three-phase ceasefire agreement, which came into effect on January 19, halted Israel’s devastating military offensive that has killed more than 48,200 Palestinians, primarily women and children, and left Gaza in ruins.

In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its military actions in the besieged territory.
