
Zambian customs officials apprehended a 27-year-old Indian national at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on Saturday for allegedly attempting to smuggle over $2 million in cash and $500,000 worth of suspected gold.
The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) reported that the individual was en route to Dubai when a multi-agency team intercepted him.
Authorities discovered $2,320,000 in cash and seven pieces of suspected gold in his luggage.
Investigations into the incident are currently underway, with the DEC issuing a stern warning against transnational organized crime.
This arrest follows a similar incident in 2023 involving Egyptians found with weapons, gold, and a large sum of cash.
