Iraqi teen dies in Hamburg fall after alleged attack by Syrians

A 15-year-old Iraqi boy died after falling from the eighth floor of a high-rise in Hamburg, Germany, while allegedly fleeing an attack by a group of Syrians. The incident occurred on April 14 in the Wilstorf district, where the group reportedly forced their way into an apartment on the building’s top floor.

In a desperate attempt to escape, the teenager climbed over the balcony railing but lost his grip and fell. Emergency responders attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Five individuals were initially arrested, including four Syrian males aged 16 to 20, on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm resulting in death. A 22-year-old Iraqi woman was also detained but later released.

The investigation has since expanded, with three additional Syrian suspects, aged 18, 19, and 24, arrested and placed in temporary detention. Authorities have not yet confirmed the motive behind the attack or whether the suspects knew the victim. Police have also not confirmed reports of weapon use.

The case is being treated as a priority, with forensic teams and sniffer dogs deployed to gather evidence.
