An explosion in Somalia’s Barawe town killed at least two people and wounded four others on Saturday.
Security officer Abduqadir Hussein reported the improvised explosive device was attached to a vehicle at the Barawe airport gate.
The four injured civilians were quickly transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for this attack in the Lower Shabelle region.Â
Al-Shabaab, an al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group, has claimed responsibility for other recent attacks in Somalia.
Barawe is a significant town located about 208 kilometers from Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.
Somalia has endured years of insecurity, primarily from al-Shabaab and Daesh (ISIS) terrorist groups.
Al-Shabaab has been actively fighting the Somali government for over 16 years, often targeting officials and military personnel.
