Uganda has secured an $800 million financing agreement with the Islamic Development Bank to fund key projects, including a railway that will link to Kenya’s Standard Gauge Railway and the Mombasa port.
The three-year deal will also support infrastructure projects in health, transport, and energy. The agreement was signed by Uganda’s finance ministry official Ramathan Ggoobi and the bank’s Vice President Rami Ahmed during the bank’s annual meeting in Algiers.
