Over two dozen countries, including the UK, Australia, Japan, and the EU, condemned Israel’s “inhumane killing” of Gaza civilians, urging an immediate end to hostilities.
In a joint statement, 25 foreign ministers and EU Commissioner Hadja Lahbib said Gaza’s suffering had reached “new depths” and called for urgent international intervention.
They criticized Israel’s aid model as “dangerous,” saying it fuels instability, denies dignity, and leads to the killing of civilians, including children, seeking basic necessities.
The coalition called the deaths of over 800 Palestinians seeking aid since late May “horrifying” and condemned Israel’s denial of humanitarian assistance as “unacceptable.”
Countries from Australia to Switzerland demanded Israel uphold international humanitarian law—protecting civilians, ensuring aid, and respecting principles like proportionality and distinction in armed conflict.
They also demanded the “immediate and unconditional release” of hostages, referencing around 250 Israelis taken by Hamas on October 7, 2023, with 20 reportedly still alive.
The statement urged Israel to lift all aid restrictions and let the UN and NGOs safely carry out essential humanitarian operations in the Gaza Strip.
Signatories rejected any plans to relocate Palestinians into a “humanitarian city,” calling it “completely unacceptable” and a violation of international law against forced displacement.
They opposed territorial or demographic changes in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and expressed full support for diplomatic efforts by the U.S., Qatar, and Egypt for a ceasefire.
