Turkish, African businesses unite at Istanbul WCI Forum

The two-day World Cooperation Industries (WCI) Forum opened Wednesday, uniting Turkish and African business communities in Istanbul.
Forum president Utku Bengisu said investing in Africa represents investing in the future, praising the event’s role in strengthening relations.Bengisu noted that the forum has boosted Turkish products and technologies across Africa, citing a database of 450,000 Turkish companies.

He highlighted ongoing support for small- and medium-sized enterprises through the forum and initiatives backed by the Turkish Trade Ministry. Bengisu described projects enhancing Turkey-Africa ties, including a Digital Transformation Center employing AI-powered export solutions and field-oriented approaches.

He announced a major meeting between Turkish and Libyan business communities will take place in Benghazi, Libya, this December. “Turkish exports reaching $400 billion in the Republic’s 101st year reflects our economic success,” Bengisu said during his address.

Deputy chair Ahmet Gulec stressed that Turkey-Africa trade fosters peaceful development and offers mutual economic, social, and cultural benefits. Gulec added that Turkey’s trade-focused approach demonstrates long-term commitment, showing hands extended to Africa in cooperation and partnership.

Executive chair Abdulkadir Develi said the forum arrives amid global uncertainty, where trust and economic security are vital for overcoming challenges. He concluded that trade diplomacy has become crucial in today’s geopolitical climate, strengthening ties and providing stability amid shifting international relations.
