TASIS-claimed drone raids hit Khartoum in first strikes in months

Drones launched by the Rapid Support Forces and allied TASIS coalition struck multiple sites across SAF-held Khartoum state on Tuesday morning, targeting what they described as military and logistical facilities, according to residents and the TASIS alliance.

Witnesses reported hits on Sudan’s main oil refinery, power stations in Bahri and Omdurman, a fuel depot in southern Khartoum, and at least one military base. The attacks were the first of their kind around the capital in months.

TASIS, a coalition of armed groups and political factions aligned with the RSF, said the operation was a response to the “criminal targeting of hospitals and civilian facilities” in Darfur and Kordofan. The bloc announced a civilian government last month.

The RSF, battling the SAF for more than two years, carried out a wave of drone strikes earlier this year after being pushed from parts of central and eastern Sudan. Through the summer, fighting shifted largely to ground engagements in Darfur and Kordofan, while in recent days the SAF has intensified airstrikes.

Sudan’s war has triggered what aid agencies call the world’s largest humanitarian crisis and pulled in outside powers, while mediation efforts have made little headway.
