
Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoygu met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Moscow on Tuesday. The meeting began in a small, closed format and later expanded to include broader strategic discussions between both delegations.
Officials addressed pressing international and regional security issues, focusing on the Asia-Pacific region and military-technical cooperation between the two nations. The discussion also covered law enforcement and special services collaboration, highlighting an intent to deepen practical bilateral engagement on security matters.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang emphasized China’s support for efforts that could bring a comprehensive and lasting peace in Ukraine. Wang urged consolidating strategic trust, nurturing neighbourly friendship, and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation to bolster economic development in both countries.
He added that strategic security consultations should continue to strengthen communication, deepen collaboration, and jointly address shared external challenges. Later Tuesday, Wang held a separate meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to further advance diplomatic dialogue and cooperation. The consultations underline a growing commitment between Moscow and Beijing to coordinate on security, diplomacy, and regional stability amid ongoing global tensions.
