Egypt has signed a €165 million agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to reinforce its national electricity grid. The government said on Tuesday that the financing aims to support a project designed to strengthen power transmission across the country.
Officials noted that the initiative seeks to improve energy efficiency and reduce pressure on overstretched infrastructure amid rising domestic demand. The cabinet statement added that the partnership reflects Cairo’s ongoing efforts to modernise key sectors and secure more stable electricity supplies.
The deal also underscores the European lender’s continued role in backing Egypt’s economic resilience during a period of financial strain.
