Morocco lift Arab Cup as fans turn focus to Africa Cup

Morocco’s national team capped a remarkable run of titles by winning the Arab Cup on Thursday night in Qatar, edging Jordan 3–2 after extra time and sparking celebrations across Rabat.

Supporters poured into central streets, converging on Mohamed V Avenue as cafés filled up around closing time to catch the final and then spill out into impromptu street parties.

The triumph adds to a growing list of recent successes for the Atlas Lions, who also won the African Nations Championship in August and lifted the Under-20 World Cup in October, strengthening the feeling among fans that this group is building something bigger.

On the pitch, Morocco struck early to take control, but Jordan flipped the match with two second-half goals that threatened to spoil the party. Rabat’s mood swung with the game: confident before the break, anxious after Jordan’s comeback.

Relief arrived late. Morocco leveled in the 89th minute to force extra time, before Abderrazak Hamdallah grabbed the decisive goal, sealing a 3–2 victory and sending celebrations into the night.

With the trophy secured, attention quickly shifted to what many supporters see as the next target: the Africa Cup.
