Turkey sends damaged Libyan jet recorders to the UK for analysis

Turkey will send the damaged black box and cockpit voice recorder from a crashed Libyan jet to the United Kingdom for analysis.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu said only four countries can extract data from severely damaged flight recorders.

He told reporters in Ankara that Britain was selected after consultations with Libyan officials and the aircraft’s manufacturer.

A specialised team will travel in the coming days to oversee the delicate process alongside representatives from the concerned parties.

Uraloglu said the examination could take a month or longer, reflecting the complexity of retrieving fragile digital memories from wreckage.

The jet crashed near Ankara’s Haymana district on December 23, killing five members of the military delegation and flight crew.

The aircraft was carrying Libyan Chief of General Staff Mohammed Al-Haddad’s delegation, turning a routine journey into a fatal chapter written in twisted metal.
