Burkina Faso has dismissed head coach Brama Traoré and his assistants after a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Morocco.
The Burkinabè Football Federation said the team’s performance fell far below expectations set before the continental tournament began.
Burkina Faso exited in the round of 16, suffering a heavy 3–0 defeat to defending champion Ivory Coast.
Officials said the early elimination caused deep disappointment among supporters, football stakeholders, and national sporting authorities.
Before the tournament, the federation had publicly set a minimum target of reaching the semifinals.
That goal reflected confidence built on earlier campaigns, including a semifinal run at the 2021 Africa Cup.
Burkina Faso also exited in the last 16 at the previous tournament, raising concerns about stalled progress.
The federation thanked Traoré and his staff for their service since 2024 and confirmed an immediate search for replacements.
The Stallions have already failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, sharpening scrutiny of the national programme.
Attention now turns to qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, where hopes will be renewed.
