Algeria has begun formal steps to cancel its air services agreement with the United Arab Emirates, state media reported on Saturday.
The agreement was signed in Abu Dhabi in May 2013 and later ratified by presidential decree in December 2014.
Officials gave no immediate reason, but Algerian media have recently accused the UAE of stirring regional tensions.
State radio said Algeria has initiated termination procedures under Article 22, requiring formal diplomatic notification to the Emirati side.
The International Civil Aviation Organization’s secretary-general will also be informed to complete the necessary institutional steps.
The UAE offered no immediate public comment on the announcement.
Political strains have surfaced before, clouding relations once framed by routine cooperation and shared regional interests.
In October, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said Algeria enjoyed warm ties with Gulf states, excluding one unnamed country.
He described relations with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar as brotherly and grounded in mutual respect.
Tebboune accused the unnamed state of interference in Algeria’s internal affairs and efforts to undermine stability.
