Mali’s army said it carried out coordinated strikes, killing several dozen suspected militants west of the central city of Segou.
The General Staff said the operations followed territorial surveillance on February 7, which tracked an armed group hiding in a wooded area.
About 15 suspected militants were targeted and hit during the first strike as they attempted to conceal themselves in dense vegetation.
A second operation later neutralised around 10 suspected militants as they tried to land by canoe on the Niger River’s left bank.
Military officials said logistical equipment belonging to the group was also destroyed during the riverbank strike west of Segou.
In the same zone, another group of roughly 10 suspected militants travelling on motorcycles was detected and neutralised.
The chief of the General Staff said coordinated search and neutralisation operations would continue across Mali’s entire territory.
Mali has endured more than a decade of insecurity, particularly in central and northern regions plagued by militant violence.
The army says such operations aim to reassert state control and protect communities along key population centres and the Niger River corridor.
