US says aircraft carrier enforcing naval blockade on Iran

The U.S. military said Tuesday that the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln continues operations in the Arabian Sea as part of Washington’s naval blockade on Iran, claiming American forces have redirected dozens of commercial vessels and disrupted several others since the operation began.

In a statement posted on X, U.S. Central Command said the carrier “continues operations in the Arabian Sea, including enforcement of the U.S. blockade against Iran,” adding that CENTCOM forces had “redirected 65 commercial ships and disrupted four others.”

The USS Abraham Lincoln is among the key American naval assets deployed in the region, operating alongside destroyers and support vessels as part of the U.S. fleet active in the Arabian Sea and the Gulf. The carrier has been involved in maritime surveillance and aerial operations linked to the ongoing pressure campaign against Tehran.

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that the blockade on Iranian ports will remain in place until Washington and Tehran reach an agreement aimed at ending the war in the Middle East.

The United States imposed the naval blockade on Iranian ports and coastal areas on April 13, days after a ceasefire announcement, escalating tensions across regional shipping lanes and the Strait of Hormuz.
