18 nations condemn Somaliland for opening embassy in Jerusalem

An international coalition led by Turkey and 17 other nations has strongly condemned Somaliland’s decision to open an embassy in Jerusalem.

A joint statement was issued by foreign ministers representing a diverse bloc of Middle Eastern, African, and Asian sovereign nations.

The diplomatic alliance characterized the breakaway region’s move as an illegal, unacceptable, and flagrant violation of established international law.

Ministers asserted that the diplomatic outpost directly infringes upon the legal and historical status of occupied East Palestinian territory.

The signatory nations categorically rejected any unilateral measures designed to grant legitimacy to entities violating United Nations security resolutions.

The joint declaration firmly reiterated that East Jerusalem has remained an occupied territory under international law since the 1967 conflict.

Accordingly, the ministers declared that any administrative changes to the city’s status are completely null, void, and without legal effect.

The text also heavily emphasized the coalition’s unyielding support for the total sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The diplomatic backlash underscores growing regional anxiety over unilateral shifts that could alter the fragile geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.

This swift international condemnation signals a unified effort to prevent the normalization of unacknowledged diplomatic missions in contested global capitals.
