Two African navies sail to New York for massive maritime event

Two African warships sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to join the historic United States 250th anniversary naval celebration in New York.

The massive International Naval Review 250 gathers more than 100 global vessels and 16,000 international maritime service members this week.

Morocco’s formidable frigate, the RMNS Mohammed VI, showcases the North African nation’s historic, centuries-old defense alliance with the American government.

The cutting-edge, 600-ton Senegalese patrol vessel Niani also arrived, demonstrating the growing operational reach and precision of West African navies.

Admiral George Wikoff stated that this high-profile participation honors decades of mutual maritime cooperation and professional military exchange at sea.

Five other African nations, including Ghana and Kenya, sent high-level diplomatic and naval delegations to witness this record-breaking naval gathering.
