Senegal unites public and private sectors to combat cyber threats

Senegal has launched a sweeping initiative to unite public and private sectors against a rising tide of cyber threats.

Ministerial leaders convened a critical consultation meeting on July 13 to forge a unified national defense for digital assets.

This strategic cooperation aims to shield vital services as the nation rapidly deploys its ambitious “New Deal Technologique” infrastructure.

A future legal framework will soon govern the protection of sovereign clouds, data centers, and high-performance computing platforms.

Securing these assets is paramount, especially after high-profile cyberattacks hit Senegal’s Public Treasury and tax directories earlier this year.

The stakes are incredibly high, with digital technologies projected to inject 1.1 trillion CFA francs into the economy by 2030.

Yet, Senegal currently holds a modest cybersecurity score of 67.17 out of 100 on the global index.
