Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan says Turkey and Egypt will deepen bilateral ties, citing mutual trust, shared interests and regional responsibilities.
Fidan made the remarks Friday after visiting Egypt, where he discussed bilateral cooperation and regional developments with senior officials.
“Our visit to Egypt provided a highly important opportunity to discuss our bilateral cooperation, which is at an excellent level,” Fidan said.
He thanked Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty for his “sincere hospitality,” describing him as a valued counterpart and brother.
During the visit, Fidan co-chaired the second Turkey-Egypt Joint Planning Group meeting with Abdelatty to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
He also met Hassan Rashad, head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service, and Nabil Fahmy, secretary-general of the Arab League.
Fidan said Turkey and Egypt signed agreements designed to increase bilateral trade, diversify economic ties and strengthen connectivity.
“Turkey and Egypt are two major states that act with an awareness of the responsibilities imposed on them by history and geography,” he said.
He stressed that closer cooperation would serve both countries’ peoples while helping build greater peace, stability and prosperity across the region.
Fidan said Ankara and Cairo would continue working “shoulder to shoulder” under their presidents’ vision and deepen ties through mutual trust.
