Two foreign nationals deported from the United States to Eswatini have been voluntarily repatriated to their home countries.
The southern African nation’s government confirmed Tuesday that a Mauritanian national and a Congolese citizen departed over the weekend.
Both men requested voluntary repatriation to reunite with their families after entering the landlocked kingdom under a bilateral agreement.
The departures are part of Eswatini’s agreement to accept dozens of third-country deportees expelled under President Donald Trump’s immigration policy.
Washington provided approximately $5 million to strengthen the kingdom’s migration and border security infrastructure in exchange for housing deportees.
Eswatini officials maintained that the deportees remain in the country strictly on a temporary basis pending final transit arrangements.
Several other individuals currently held in high-security facilities have similarly requested assistance to return to their native lands.
