Ethiopia and Thailand signed two Memoranda of Understanding on Friday to institutionalize political consultations and deepen business ties.
The agreements followed talks in Addis Ababa between Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos and Thai Deputy Prime Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow.
One pact creates a formal political consultation mechanism, providing an institutional framework for regular bilateral diplomatic engagement.
The second agreement seeks to strengthen ties between the countries’ chambers of commerce, opening new channels for business collaboration.
The ministers discussed trade, investment, air connectivity, capacity building, climate change and joint efforts to combat human trafficking.
They underscored the value of deepening people-to-people relations and forging fresh avenues for economic partnership between Ethiopia and Thailand.
The signing marks a milestone in transforming a growing friendship into concrete, institutionalized cooperation between the two governments.
Sihasak’s stop is part of a wider African tour running from August 25 to 29, also taking in Nigeria.
