The official meetings to establish the Civil Front for Ending the War and Restoring Democracy in Sudan are starting today in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
The meetings include a wide spectrum of political and civilian figures, led by former Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok, prominent political leaders, civil society organizations, and resistance committees.
In recent days, the Ethiopian capital has witnessed preparatory committee meetings to organize the event and unify the vision regarding the papers presented to the conference, including agendas, political vision, ending the war, the organizational structure of the front, the role of media, humanitarian issues, and economic aspects for the post-war phase.
The meetings were scheduled to commence on Saturday, but former Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok requested an additional extension to complete his consultations with the leader of the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM-AW), Abdel Wahid Al-Nur, and the leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu.
Representatives of participating entities have arrived to take part in the front, including the Forces of Freedom and Change Alliance (FFC), the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) led by Al-Hadi Idris, the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) led by Suleiman Sandal, the Republican Party, the Political and Civil Forces Alliance in Eastern Sudan, as well as civil resistance committees.
Several national figures, representatives of Sufi orders, civil society, and business leaders will participate in the meeting.
