Antony Blinken in struggle to contain Israel’s offensive on Gaza

Amid Israel’s anticipated inhumane invasion of the Gaza Strip, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has been engaged in a diplomatic campaign, holding a series of meetings with regional leaders to try to contain the impending crisis.

Blinken crisscrossed across the Middle East, meeting officials from Israel, Jordan, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.

It seems Blinken is trying to get countries in the region to stay out of Israel’s murderous campaign against Palestinians, who are also Muslim Arabs.

Additionally, it’s been reported that he asked countries to send messages to Hezbollah and Iran to not intervene and watch as Israel obliterates Gaza.

Following his discussion with Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, Blinken emphasized that “the way that Israel does this matters. It needs to do it in a way that affirms the shared values that we have for human life and human dignity, taking every possible precaution to avoid harming civilians.”

This marked Blinken’s final meeting with Arab leaders, as concerns mounted over the possibility of an Israeli ground invasion in Gaza leading to a broader massacre with severe humanitarian repercussions.

The collective opposition expressed by the seven Arab leaders during Blinken’s trip constituted the most robust public resistance he had encountered.
