At least 25 people were killed when a passenger boat carrying marketgoers from Munya capsized on a river in Shiroro, Niger state, officials and local media said on Sunday.
Dozens are missing and the death toll could rise as search and rescue operations continue, an official said, without giving the total number on board.
Boat accidents are common in Nigeria’s rainy season, when rivers and lakes serve as key transport routes and vessels are often overloaded.
