Boko Haram kills 12 in northeast Nigeria

Boko Haram terrorists killed at least 12 people Saturday in a brutal attack on Bokko Ghide community in Borno State.

Gwoza Emir Mohammed Timta, the region’s traditional and Islamic leader, confirmed the deadly assault to Anadolu Agency on Sunday morning.

Among the victims were two local vigilantes ambushed along Kirawa Road under Pulka district, while 10 civilians were killed gathering firewood.

“Though we have buried the victims, others who sustained injuries are receiving medical treatment in Maiduguri,” Timta said.

Fear now grips the community as residents avoid farmlands during the crucial season of land preparation before the rains.

The attack came just 48 hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu dispatched top military officials to Borno to assess security conditions.

Defense Minister Badaru Abubakar and Chief of Defense Staff Gen. Christopher Musa led the delegation following alarming warnings from Governor Babagana Zulum.

Zulum recently cautioned that terrorists are regrouping and growing deadlier around the volatile Lake Chad region.

The tragedy paints a grim picture of a region locked in a cycle of violence, struggling for breath against relentless terror.
