Chief of Sudanese army expected to visit China next week

Reports indicate that Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan will depart for the Chinese capital, Beijing, next Monday to attend the third forum for the Belt and Road Initiative hosted by Beijing on the 17th and 18th of this month.

Official Chinese media mentioned that 90 countries, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, have confirmed their attendance at the third International Cooperation Forum for the Belt and Road Initiative.

It’s worth noting that the Belt and Road Initiative derives its name from reviving the ancient Silk Road to enhance the global trade infrastructure. However, critics of the project view it as a means for China, under President Xi Jinping, to expand its economic and geopolitical influence.

Since April 15, Sudan has experienced deadly clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Khartoum and other areas, resulting in at least 9,000 deaths and thousands of injuries.
