Chinese defence ministry hosts African military delegation

Nearly 100 military officers from over 40 African nations commenced a 10-day visit to China on Monday, according to an official statement.

The delegation, comprising officers from countries like Egypt, Mozambique, Tanzania, and Kenya, will tour China until May 15 at the invitation of China’s Defense Ministry.

Their itinerary includes exchange activities and visits to several cities, such as Beijing, Changsha, and Shaoshan in Hunan province.

Earlier this year, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi pledged 1 billion yuan (approximately $136 million) in military assistance to Africa during his trip to Namibia, DR Congo, Chad, and Nigeria.

Wang also announced that China would help train 6,000 African troops and 1,000 police officers.

This visit follows the conclusion of a joint air force training exercise between China and Egypt, named Eagles of Civilization 2025, which took place in Egypt and ended on Sunday.
