Cholera peaks as floods, war hit hard Sudan

The cholera outbreak in Sudan has claimed 48 lives so far, according to recent reports.

The situation continues to worsen as new cases emerge and the death toll rises.

The Sudanese Ministry of Health has confirmed 102 new cholera cases, pushing the total to 1,223.

The rising numbers highlight the severity of the outbreak in the region.

In addition to the cholera crisis, excessive rainfall and floods have caused 138 deaths across 10 states since June.

This has compounded the challenges facing the nation.

Sudan’s rainy season, running from July to October, typically results in over 100 deaths annually due to floods.

The ongoing rains have severely damaged homes, workplaces, and farmland.

The combination of war and epidemics is straining Sudan’s already fragile health system, making it increasingly difficult for people to access necessary care and support.
