Dagalo: Atrocities army commits against civilians are war crimes

The Commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti,” strongly condemned the detention, torture, and humiliation of civilians within the prisons of the former regime’s elements in the Armored Corps.

In a statement posted on his official X account, Dagalo announced that his forces successfully freed a large number of innocent civilians who were held captive by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) at al-Shajara Armored Camp in Khartoum.

The civilians were in extremely dire human, physical, and psychological conditions due to the torture, humiliation, and degradation they had endured.

Dagalo said that the civilians who were liberated from the “detention and slavery prisons” had suffered “brutal and horrific” torture, being deprived of food and medical care during their captivity.

He emphasized that these “heinous acts” highlight the inhumanity of the SAF and its extremist allied militias, which committed some of the worst humanitarian crimes against Sudanese civilians.

“These atrocities are war crimes. I urge immediate condemnation and an international investigation into these unlawful detentions to protect the dignity of the victims and ensure that justice is served.” added Dagalo.
