Deadly bus collision kills 16 in Mali

In central Mali, a tragic collision between two buses left sixteen people dead and 48 injured, with six in critical condition.

The accident occurred around 8:30 am on July 25 in Ouan, San region.

The transport ministry reported the crash as a “frontal collision,” attributing it to excessive speed and driver recklessness.

All victims were transported to a nearby health center for treatment.

An investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, as authorities seek to understand the factors leading to the crash.

In neighboring Senegal, a separate accident on the same day resulted in six fatalities and 14 injuries near Ndouloumadji and Ourossogui, close to the Mauritanian border.

This was shared by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye on Facebook.

Both Mali and Senegal frequently experience road accidents, often due to poor road conditions, vehicle maintenance issues, and human error.
