Deadly landslide hits eastern DR Congo

A devastating landslide triggered by heavy rains has claimed the lives of at least 10 people, including several children, in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo’s South Kivu province.

The incident occurred in Kalehe territory, where the downpour swept away homes and damaged infrastructure.

Local civil society groups report that the death toll may rise as rescue efforts continue.

The disaster has also displaced numerous families and destroyed vital food supplies.
