A delegation from the Diocese of Wilmington arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, on July 9 to begin a humanitarian pilgrimage.
Associate Superintendent Tyler Kulp and Deacon Vince Pisano traveled overnight, arriving exhausted but eager to start their mission.
The travelers quickly departed the capital city for a four-hour journey south toward Kimana, near the Tanzanian border.
They will use funds from local Catholic schools and global donors to purchase vital supplies for the Amboseli region.
Their primary objective focuses on improving a local early childhood center by completing an unfinished, vulnerable roof structure.
Volunteers also plan to build essential classroom furniture, including desks and shelving, to enhance the daily learning environment.
Furthermore, the team will distribute educational art supplies and facilitate professional training for the center’s dedicated teacher.
The critical project is supported by Water is Life Kenya, a partner assisting the diocese in this African initiative.
Kulp reported drawing deep spiritual strength from his rosary while praying for supporters back home in Delaware and Maryland.
The dedicated duo aims to transform local community resources during their intense eight-day service trip in the region.
