Dengue fever, cholera, and measles kill over 200 people in Sudan

Sudan’s Ministry of Health has revealed an increase in dengue fever, cholera, and measles rates across all the country’s states. They have confirmed the deaths of more than 200 people due to these diseases since the outbreak of the conflict in mid-April.

The Ministry confirmed in its report that dengue fever cases were registered in nine states this year, compared to 13 states the previous year.

They reported that there have been 3,414 cases of dengue fever, including 38 deaths, in all Sudanese states.

According to the report, Al-Qadarif was the most affected state, mainly due to the high mosquito density and the absence of herd immunity. They also confirmed the availability of supplies of intravenous solutions, especially paracetamol, in all states.

The Ministry revealed the number of suspected cholera cases with 1,617 cases, including 64 deaths.

The report also mentioned that a total of 4,166 cases of measles were recorded, including 101 deaths.
