At least 22 people were killed and 28 others injured when a bus crashed in Egypt’s South Sinai governorate on Wednesday morning, according to the country’s Health Ministry.
The accident occurred on the road linking the popular Red Sea resort towns of Dahab and Nuweiba. Egyptian and Jordanian media reported that as many as 10 Jordanian citizens were among those killed.
Authorities have not yet established the cause of the crash or confirmed how many passengers were travelling on the bus.
The Health Ministry said the injured were taken to three hospitals for treatment.
Dahab and Nuweiba are major tourist destinations on the Gulf of Aqaba, attracting Egyptian and international visitors throughout the year.
Fatal traffic accidents remain common in Egypt and are frequently attributed to speeding, unsafe driving and poorly maintained roads. Official figures recorded nearly 6,000 road deaths nationwide in 2025.
The latest accident comes about a month after 18 people were killed and 30 injured in a collision involving two lorries in the northeastern governorate of Ismailia.
