Nine Egyptian military personnel were killed and injured in an accident east of the capital Cairo, according to the army on Monday.
A military statement said the accident occurred when a truck loaded with ammunition “suddenly overturned” during a planned training exercise south of the 10th of Ramadan City in Sharqiya province.
The casualties included officers and other ranks, the statement said, without providing any further details.
The military statement said all necessary measures were promptly taken in close coordination with the relevant authorities.
“The Armed Forces extend their heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and wish a swift and full recovery to those injured in the incident,” the statement said.
