Major General Samir Faraj, the Egyptian strategic expert, affirmed that the conflict in Sudan between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has affected various aspects of life in the country, especially the healthcare sector.
Faraj stated that since the conflict erupted in Sudan, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) sought to resolve the conflict in the country. However, the organization aimed for a military intervention in Sudan, a proposal that Egypt rejected.
He pointed out that President Sisi launched an initiative involving neighbouring countries to halt the escalation in Sudan and cease-fire, affirming that Egypt has devised an important strategy to end the Sudanese conflict.
The provisions of this initiative include: “cease-fire, resolving the Sudanese crisis, non-alignment with any party, rejecting external military intervention, alongside avoiding the internationalization of the Sudan crisis.”
Samir Faraj further clarified that the meeting between Sisi and Al-Burhan on Tuesday confirms that the Egyptian state is the main key to resolving the Sudanese crisis.
He pointed out that since the outbreak of the Sudanese crisis, more than 300,000 Sudanese citizens have come to Egypt, in addition to more than 5 million Sudanese residents living on Egyptian soil.
