Ethiopia: Drone strike on ambulance claims lives of five civilians

Eyewitness accounts from Ethiopia’s Amhara region revealed a tragic incident where a drone strike hit an ambulance, leading to the deaths of five civilians.

The incident unfolded in Wogel Tena town situated in northeastern Amhara, resulting in three others sustaining injuries, including the head of a local hospital.

Confirmation of the attack was delayed until Wednesday despite its occurrence last week due to communication restrictions imposed by local authorities.

Victims identified from the strike included the ambulance driver, a pharmacist, and nearby construction workers.

There are reports suggesting that federal forces are utilizing drones to target local militias amid the ongoing and escalating violence that erupted in April.

Expressing concern over drone strikes affecting civilian targets in Amhara, the United Nations highlighted previous incidents where several individuals lost their lives in attacks on a school compound and a bus station.
