FIFA greenlights 30 Nigerian referees for 2024 tournaments

FIFA, the global governing body for football, has granted approval for the involvement of 30 Nigerian referees in various international competitions scheduled for the upcoming year.

This group consists of 11 referees, 11 assistant referees, along with four beach soccer referees and four futsal referees, as highlighted by Ademola Olajire, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), in a statement released on Thursday.

Among these referees are Basheer Salisu, Ogabor Odey Joseph, Olufunmilayo Abigael Alaba, Nurudeen Abubakar, and Abdulsalam Kasimu Abiola.

Nigerian football officials have previously encountered challenges in participating in international tournaments, including the impending Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
