Egypt’s National Elections Authority announced the final 49 parliamentary seats on Saturday, sealing a super-majority for President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The declaration closed an election process stretching over three months, delivering the numbers needed to pursue constitutional amendments.
The final results were delayed by reruns in constituencies where earlier ballots were annulled, briefly suspending the political drumbeat.
Although officials did not disclose party affiliations, the outcome is widely seen as preserving a parliament dominated by Sisi’s supporters.
Egypt’s State Information Service said opposition parties and independents are expected to hold about 158 of 568 elected seats.
The president appoints an additional five percent of members, lifting parliament’s total to 596 seats.
A two-thirds majority is required to amend the constitution, a threshold the new parliament is now set to meet.
