Ghanaian striker Dwamena dies during match in Albania

Former Ghanaian striker Raphael Dwamena, 28, passed away on the field during a match with a local team in Albania, as confirmed by the Albanian Football Federation in a statement released on Saturday.

Dwamena became unconscious, and following initial medical assistance, he was transported to the hospital.

“Despite the immediate intervention of specialist doctors and all efforts to bring him back to life, the footballer unfortunately passed away,” the federation said in a statement.

The federation has postponed all games scheduled in Albania this week.

In 2017, Dwamena received a diagnosis of a heart condition, and in 2021, he experienced a collapse on the field during a game in Austria. However, he was swiftly stabilized at that time.
