Health crisis deepens in Sudan as cholera cases surge

Sudan is grappling with a severe health crisis, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict between Burhan-Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.

The country has reported over 43,000 cholera cases and 1,800 deaths, along with a surge in dengue fever cases.

The number of cholera cases continues to rise, with 221 new cases and two fatalities reported on Thursday.

The disease is spreading rapidly across multiple states, primarily due to poor sanitation and lack of access to clean water.

Dengue Fever Threat

The country is also experiencing a significant increase in dengue fever cases. The mosquito-borne disease has infected over 8,000 people and claimed 16 lives.

The ongoing conflict has severely disrupted healthcare services, making it difficult to control the spread of these diseases.

Millions of people have been displaced, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

The Sudanese government and international aid organizations are working to contain the outbreaks and provide medical assistance to affected populations.

However, the challenges posed by the conflict and the dire humanitarian situation remain significant.
