Heavy fighting underway in Sudan between Burhan-led forces, RSF

Fierce clashes between the General Abdel Fattah al Burhan-led SAF and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) raged in Khartoum and Sennar State on Wednesday.

Heavy weapons fire and explosions shook Khartoum, with smoke billowing across the city.

Simultaneously, fighting intensified in Al-Dali and Al-Mazmum, Sennar State, RSF’s remaining strongholds in the region.

Clashes in El-Fasher, North Darfur left six deaths and multiple injuries, according to a local relief committee.

Health authorities reported a child’s death and five civilian injuries in Omdurman’s Karari district.

The ongoing conflict, which began in April 2023, has caused over 20,000 deaths and displaced 14 million people, according to UN and local reports.

However, independent research suggests the death toll may be as high as 130,000.
