Inland temperatures in Tunisia exceeded 49 degrees Celsius

In the central and southern parts of Tunisia, temperatures have exceeded 49 degrees Celsius.

According to a statement from the Tunisian National Meteorological Institute on its social media account, “Today’s measurements recorded temperatures of 49.2 degrees Celsius in Kairouan and 49.3 degrees Celsius in Kebili.”

The statement mentioned that temperatures will range between 40 and 47 degrees Celsius in the coming days, occasionally exceeding 49 degrees Celsius.

Highlighting Kairouan as the second hottest spot in Africa, the statement recalled that temperatures reached 50.3 degrees Celsius in the city in 2021.

Tunisian authorities are warning against forest fires due to the high temperatures.
